APRIL 2006 NEWS

The JMDT would like to say Thank You to everyone who supported and came to thier 1st annual Spaghetti dinner and auction.  We hope all in attendance enjoyed the evening.

March 2006 News Flash

The Joyful Motion Jr & Sr Troupes competed at the three day "Headliners Dance Competition" held at the U of MD.  The competition was tough with many  talented teams in attendance.  However the JMDT did very well coming home with many silver and high silver trophies.  A special congratulations goes out to the Jr. team who won a gold award for thier "Hey Mickey" Pom routine as very few gold awards were given out in our division.  We are also very proud of our duet team of Teshauna Jones and Britanae Webb who not only walked away with a gold award but walked away with an overall 5th place award out of over 20 entires in duets and trios.  They were the only routine in our division out of ALL studios in attendance to recieve an overall award.  Job well done ladies!

FEBRUARY 2006 NEWS FLASH

A big round of applause goes out to the Joyful Motion Sr. Dance Troupe for a job well done at the Maryland State Dance Championships.  The girls walked away with a Platinum award (the highest honor) for thier tap routine and also recieved a gold award for thier jazz routine.  The tap routine also was presented with an overall high score award.  Soloists Kelsey Hutichison, Caitlyn Hutchison and Ashley David were all awarded with gold awards for thier solos.   Ashey David also won an  overall high schore award.

NOVEMBER 2005 NEWS FLASH

CONGRATULATIONS TO TESHAUNA JONES AND CAITLYN HUTCHISON WHO WON A SCHOLARSHIP TO ATTEND "SHOCK THE INTENSIVE" IN 2006.      Jr. Troupe Members Teshauna Jones and Caitlyn Hutchison were selected out of a group of more than 100 dancers from all over the region for two of the handful of scholarships that were given out at an intensive workshop held in Baltimore Maryland on November 20th.  The girls had to learn a routine and audition for the chance to win a scholarship and recipients were chosen based on effort, technique, showmanship and talent.  Congratulations to our two dancers on this very special honor!

AUGUST 2005 NEWS FLASH

A HUGE ROUND OF APPLUASE FOR THE JOYFUL MOTION PERFORMANCE GROUPS WHO DID AN EXCELLENT JOB PERFORMING AT UNIVERAL STUDIOS ORLANDO AND SEA WORLD ORLANDO!  This group of dedicated and talented dancers put on a 20 minute show for visitors to these theme parks.  The representatives from each theme park were thrilled with the performance and said Joyful Motion was welcome back any time.

JUNE 2005 NEWS FLASH

BRAVO, BRAVO!!!   ALL of our dancers did a great job performing in our 15th annual recital "Dancing The Year Away" held at Eleanor Roosevelt High School.  The audience was very enthusiastic and appreciated the efforts of all our dancers.  Thank you to everyone for all your hard work on this very successful production.  We were told it was our best yet :-)  

MARCH 2005 NEWS FLASH

The JMD Troupes did a GREAT job at the Star Systems Competition at Bowie State University!  Austin Powers Sr. Tap routine came away with 1st place tap group / 2nd place overall group.  Kailyn Davila & Elizabeth Delabrer recieved 1st place jazz duet / 2nd place overall trios & duets.  Centerfield Jr. Novelty routine won 5th place overall groups.  Spy Mix Sr. Trio won 5th place overall trios & duets.  I'm Good Sr. Hip Hop Routine won 3rd place overall groups.   Ashley David won 1st place tap and 1st place overall solo for her routine to Brown Derby Jump!  Miss Alycia won a Top Teacher Award.

FEBRUARY 2005 NEWS FLASH

Congratulations to the Joyful Motion Sr & Jr Dance Troupes on a job well done at the Kids Artistic Revue Competition in Columbia, MD.  The Sr. Hip Hop routine won the "Rock the house award" and the Jr. Novelty routine won the "We love to dance and it shows award."  All routines came away with at least a gold award or higher.   Jessica Hopkins was selected for "KAR KIDS" ... and honor very few at the competition recieved.

JULY 2004 NEWS FLASH

On July 15th, 2004 the Joyful Motion Dance Troupe and Dance Club had an awesome time performing and playing at the "sweetest place on earth" .... Hershey Park PA!  Over 20 performers graced the Talent Quest stage and put on a great show.  After the dancing was over  everyone enjoyed an exciting day in Hershey Park.  The next day they were able to enjoy Chocolate World before heading home for some much needed rest after a busy two days.  Good job ladies!JUNE 2004 NEWS FLASH

Congratulations to all our dancers for thier fabulous performance in "A Night At The Movies" on June 26th, 2004!  This truly was our best recital ever!  All our our dancers gave it their all and the audience was very receptive the entire evening.  Great job Joyful Motion Dancers!!!  Thank you to all of our dancers, parents and staff for all of your hard work this year.  

FEBRUARY 2004 NEWS FLASH

the Joyful Motion Dance Troupe recieved many honors at the last competition they attended on Saturday, February 14th in Columbia.  They  recieved a gold award for thier group Modern routine, a Platinum (the highest honor you can recieve) for the Jazz duet by performed by Kaity Barron and Ashley David and a Platinum award for thier Lyrical routine.  The teams Lyrical routine also won them a special judges award for "Oustanding Group Potential", First Place in thier catagory and "Overall Grand Champions" for thier entire division!  The girls came home with several trophies, plaques and a cash award of $100 that they will use for future competition fees.  Job well done ladies!  We are  proud of you!!!

SEPTEMBER 2003 NEWS FLASH

Congratulations to the Joyful Motion Dance Club and Dance Troupe for taking NYC by storm this summer!  This group of 19 girls, accompanied by staff and family members traveled to NYC in July for a weekend of Dance and fun filled events.  The girls performed at the Jewish Home in Manhattan, took a class at Steps on Broadway and saw the fabulous show 42nd Street! The group also enjoyed a lot of sightseeing including a full day Step On Tour of NYC with Jane Marx, an outrageous tour guide.  Visits to the Empire State Building and the Radio City Music hall were also taken, the group even got to meet a Rockette!!  A great time was had by all.

JULY 2003 NEWS FLASH

A big round of appluase goes out to all our performers who made Joyful Motions 13th Annual Dance Concert "BROADWAY RHYTHM" a huge success!  From our three year old preschooler classes all the way up to our adult tap class .... the dancers gave it thier all and put on a great show for the audience.  Thank you to all our dancers, parents and volunteers who made the recital the best it could be!

JUNE 2003 NEWS FLASH

Kudos to the Joyful Motion Dance Troupe for a great first competition season.  The team earned a Gold award for their lyrical and a silver award for thier tap at the Dance USA competition in February.  They also won a $100 scholarship to Nationals and title of "Overall Novice Line."  In May at the American Dance awards the team earned a Silver for thier lyrical and a High Silver for Lyrical.  Way to go!  The JMDT also had the fun of performing this past December in Ocean City Marylands Holiday Jubilee.

SEPTEMBER 2002 NEWS FLASH

 The Joyful Motion Dance Troupe and guests had the great honor of performing at Walt Disney World in the Magic Kingdom in August of 2002.  The group of 14 young ladies and many friends and families enjoyed a four day stay at the Walt Disney World Resort and were able to enjoy the Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney Studios and Animal Kingdom.  The highlight of the trip was walking onto the Tommorrowland Stage  in the Magic Kingdom and hearning "Walt Disney World Proudly Presents The Joyful Motion Dancers From Beltsville Maryland."  The dancers put on a 20 minute show for the guest of the park and it truly was a magical experience.
